I am commanded by the Air Council to refer to the letter addressed to Mr.G.E.J.Gent from Mr.Caines dated 15th November, 1935, No.S.28505 relative to the acquisition of an aerodrome site at Patheung, and to state, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that a telegram has now been received requesting an immediate transfer of 125,000 dollars to the credit of the Hong Kong Government, and I am to ask that the Crown Agents may be authorised to render a claim for the equivalent sterling amount calculated at the rate of exchange prevailing on the day of claim.

I am to request that this matter may be treated as very urgent, as favourable terms have been obtained providing settlement is effected before the 24th instant.

A copy of this letter has been forwarded to the

Crown Agents.
